What?
A hackfest is an opportunity to get together with other developers, designers, sysadmins, and other technical-minded individuals.
Bring yourself and your laptop. We’ll provide the space, wifi, food, and liquid refreshments.
If you’re anything like us, you have about a million half-baked ideas, and have a tough time finding the time to sit down and actually start working on them all. Or there’s that new tool you want to try out. Or maybe there’s a side project that needs tending to. Any number of things, really.
Think of this as an opportunity to encourage yourself to spend some time on such a thing while in the company of similar minded nerds.
This is just a pretense though. There’s no agenda, so we’re cool with things meandering a bit. Here’s some ideas to get you thinking:
- Write a new library / tool that’s been on your mind forever
- Try out a new language, library, tool
- Borrow a second set of eyes for a problem you’ve been struggling with
- Trade protips with other nerds
- Wax philosophically on a technical topic
Who?
Developers, designers, sysadmins, and other friends of Rails Machine. All skill levels welcome.
When?
The first Tuesday of each month. We’ll be starting around 6:30 PM, and going until about 9:30 (depending on how intense things get)
Where?
The Rails Machine office. We’re located at 35 Barnard St Suite 201, just on Ellis Square.
Take the elevator to the 2nd floor, bang a left out of it, and we’re the door on the left.
For parking, there’s meters in the area on Barnard, Broughton, etc in addition to the Ellis Square Parking Garage.
